Let’s Go to the Talkies: Australia

We went to the nearby Cineplodeum to see the new epic movie from Baz Luhrmann, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman: Australia.

We can’t say anything about the second hour and fifteen minutes of Australia; we saw only the first hour and fifteen minutes. But what we can say about that is…

Well. Never mind Australia. Instead, let’s read what IMDB has to say about the 1990 Disney animated film, The Rescuers Down Under:

Cody, a boy from Mugwomp Flats responds to a distress call about a trapped giant Golden Eagle called Marahute. Freeing her, he gains a close friendship with the bird. However, Cody is soon abducted by the murderous poacher, Percival McLeach. A mouse Cody freed from one of McLeach’s traps sends a desperate call for help to the Rescue Aid Society in New York City who assigns their top agents, Miss Bianca and Bernard to the task. The agents arrive in Austrailia and link up with the RAS’ local field operative, Jake The Kangaroo Rat. Together, the trio must race against time to find Cody, stop McLeach and save Marahute.

That was a good film. George C. Scott doing the voice of McLeach is very, very funny. Then there’s Rabbit-Proof Fence. That was another good one.
